The Sea, the Sea
A stormy day yesterday. I went to the coast to go for a walk on the beach and to experience the wind. What a great weather to shoot images! I had my Nikon and tripod with me but it was impossible to use the tripod in a normal way, it immediately fell to the ground because of the wind. But this tripod has the possibility to bow down its legs in a way you could photograph almost from just above the ground. Imagine a spider with three legs.
The wind was so strong that it caused the sand to blow, everyone who has been on a beach during a storm knows what i mean. So after a while i was covered with sand, as was my camera. Not a very healthy environment for photographic equipment I believe. Next time I wrap it carefully with plastic bags.
The images, again, show the superb and beautiful quality of the Carl Zeiss F2/100MM at maximum aperture. There is some vignetting but it adds to the feel I want to express. The very shallow depth of field gives these images the effect I had in mind.
The birds in the last shot was a present on my way back to the car.
The Sea, the Sea – Iris Murdoch, 1978, one of the many great books she wrote. It won the Booker Prize back then.
